Peter began trapshooting in1971, shooting his first targets at the Valley Gun Club, near Mankato, MN. Starting out by shooting a few practice rounds, league and registered shooting were soon to follow. Little did he know that shooting those first few targets would foster a lifelong love of trapshooting.
His love of trapshooting has flourished over time, and is what keeps Peter coming back year after year. To date, he has shot 210,000 registered targets -- but who’s counting?
Trapshooting became such an important part of Peter’s life that he soon wished to contribute more to the sport. His contributions include serving as Delegate to the MTA Board of Directors from 1991 – 2001, and then being elected President of the MTA.
During his presidency, the site of the State Shoot was moved from St. Cloud to Alexandria, MN. Upon completion of his term as President, he continues to serve as ATA Alternate Delegate.
Peter has taken photographs for the State Shoot and sent articles for publication to Trap and Field Magazine. He has volunteered his time and energy to help with the Youth Shooting Program.
The fine people he has come in contact with, the recognition he has achieved, and the feeling that he has given back something of value to the sport which has so greatly enriched his life, are all reasons that Peter feels indebted to the trapshooting organization.
